Aww I love Ian, & I'm really excited about my Ian cosplay, even more than I was about the Clara one, tbh, so I don't feel too bad about putting governess Clara on hold. I figure there'll probably be a lot of Claras there this year, so one more probably wouldn't be anything special, whereas I doubt I'll encounter another Ian Chesterton there (and if I do: WOOHOO! More First Doctor fans!)

But TARDIS is a fun convention no matter what, and should be great time, cosplay or no.
