Aw, well, good luck with the stage manager position! As you say, you can't turn your back on opportunities you want to follow - I'm sure there will always be another time for the cosplay.
And, wow, the Downton exhibition sounds amazing. I've been feeling ill this week & decided to rewatch S1 (and S2 now) and the costumes are wonderful. They still are, but those early ones are that bit more elaborate, because of the styles of the period & so gorgeous.
And, as to the DW, I can see what you mean about Three Doctors, but I think that, while not so much as Five Doctors, it is still more of a party than a serious story. The William Hartnell bits are moving - he's clearly unwell, but still very much One. (♥)
