Once again, so much to tell since my last update! My panto closed last weekend- it was hard work, but worth it for all the laughter, and all the things I learned, and all the new friends I made. I miss it already! But my friends from the show convinced me to join Facebook after years of resisting, since apparently they have more privacy options now, so at least I'll still be able to hear from them all. (P.S. Facebook is apparently for people with way too much time on their hands- how can anyone sort through it all?! I'm not exactly a social butterfly and have no idea how people can have hundreds upon hundreds of 'friends', but I'm limiting 'friends' to people I've actually met, so that should hopefully keep it manageable. We'll see how it goes, or if I retreat in terror!)

But today is Christmas, so Merry Christmas to everyone! (Or Happy Holidays, since there are many other splendid mid-winter festivities in the world!) I'm celebrating with a turkey dinner and my usual round of old Christmas movies, so I'd say I've had myself a merry little Christmas, and I hope everyone else is having happy and peaceful celebrations too. :D

I wanted to write some holiday-themed Whofic, since I haven't had time to write anything while the panto was running, but earlier this week I had the cast party for our show to go to, and then an actual Christmas cookie party at my house with some friends from the show (which were both so much fun!), so I was cooking and/or cleaning my house this week instead of writing. But there's always New Years, so holiday fic could still happen! I've got all those prompts to fill at [livejournal.com profile] dw_allsorts after all. ;D

Made it through another Christmas. Whew! The shopping almost killed me, but I did manage to pick up a few things for myself along the way. (Surprisingly good deals on Monster High dolls were to be had! Woohoo!)

Ate far too much pie in the last few days, but there were banana cream pies AND coconut cream pies, so I had to try at least a little bit of each! I've really gotta stop soon, but then after the pies are gone, there's all the Godiva truffles I have to eat! And yes, I DO have to eat them. They're the tiramisu kind, you can't let THAT go to waste! But omigod holiday treats need to stop soon, because I need to fit back into my corset for reenacting this spring!!

Watched the Doctor Who Christmas special, of course, and am happy to say I adored it. It was very funny, which I loved, since I prefer it when DW is more fun and doesn't try to be deep, serious drama. Dramatic moments here and there are fine, but if you're being attacked by evil Snowmen, you have to keep the tone light, and thankfully they did. Thoughts on, and cheers for, the Doctor Who Christmas Special! )

My post-Christmas post. Well, Christmas was quite good. I was kind of sick, so Mum pretty much let me do whatever I wanted, which ended up being sitting on the couch watching Phantom of the Opera on TV Christmas Eve. Mwahaha.

Christmas day was nice as well. Christmas dinner consisted of the traditional pizza (no more turkey! Woo hoo!) and pumpkin pie. Lovely presents, I actually got stuff I wanted, which is quite unusual and pleasant. Ever After and Funny Face on DVD from my mum were a complete shock, as she's usually notoriously averse to buying music or movies for anyone, but she knows Ever After is my favorite movie, and she loves Funny Face as much as I do, so that probably had something to do with it. ;-D

I spent the rest of Christmas day merrily watching Poirot, while Mum watched terrible made-for-TV Christmas movies on her TV. Having two televisions has made life SO much more liveable in my house! :D

I am a bit miffed at not getting to make Christmas cookies, or watch some version of The Nutcracker, but there is always next year. I was too sick this year, but I'm going to go all out on a huge Victorian Christmas next year. Now that I finally live in a Victorian house, I have no excuse not to. And why would I want one? ;-D
