Havn't gotten online at all the past week due to intensive sewing required to finish costumes for the Renaissance Faire. Of course, we only have one sewing maching, and my mom took two months to make hers, so that left me only two days in which to make mine. *grr*

Needless to say, my costume didn't get done in time. We didn't go in costume the first day anyway, because we were running late and it was way too hot. I feel for some of the SCA people in their huge heavy dresses made out of velvet and upholstry fabric.

Went in costume the second day; I just wore my blue skirt from last year with an embroidered peasant top and lots of silver jewelry. Was very nice; actually more comfortable than most of my regular clothes!

The Botanical Garden where the faire is held is the most beautiful place I've ever seen; looks like something out of a fairy tale, however, my favorite place in the whole garden, the Belvedere on the top of the hill, with it's copper dome with stars cut out, and it's gorgeous view of trees and sky framed by it's white columns, was used as a vendor's booth. You couldn't stand on the ledge to gaze out into infinity and imagine flying out with the wind, because they had overpriced junk shelved on the ledge. And you couldn't stand right under the middle of the dome, amidst the shafts of light cast by the sun through the cut out stars, because a really bitchy lady who gave really bad tarot readings would chase you away for disturbing her phony overpriced reading.

Such sacrilige was incredibly disturbing, and I have to admit, I spent a good deal of time crying, and trying to hide it by saying I had something in my eye. Definitely a low point.

But, down past the hollow in the Woodland Garden, there's a secluded little spot, with a sculpture in the shape of an inifinity symbol, and I always wanted to go there alone and dance under it ever since I first saw it. And this year I finally did.

The faire was a mixed bag this year, but it's always interesting.

That's all today. No more musings. Off to the real world I return. ;-D
