I love when my award show predictions are right. :) But it's kind of disheartening all the same when the front-runners win. The Globes were incredibly lacking in surprises this year.
The Oscars should be very exciting though, because most of the big stars that everybody thought would be nominated were passed over in favor of lesser-known actors in indie films. (YAY!) I love it when they recognize real actors instead of big stars. And I was right about there being less support for "Cold Mountain" than everybody thought! Everybody was saying how it would do so well come awards season, and it hasn't even been nominated for a best picture Oscar! HAHA! I knew it wouldn't! And I knew Nicole Kidman and all the other big names wouldn't get nominated, and everybody else is so astounded that they didn't. *evil laugh*
Johnny Depp getting a nom for "Pirates of the Caribbean" though... I SO didn't expect that! That rocks! If he won that would be the greatest thing ever... he won't, but if he DID... that would be so funny!
I'd really love to see Keisha Castle-Hughes win for "Whale Rider". The Academy people probably think she's too young for them to actually give her the Oscar, but it's nice to see that she was nominated.
For the supporting actors, I'd like to see Ken Watanabe and Shohreh Aghdashloo win, and for picture and director (as the two usually go together) I think it's time they finally gave it to "Lord of the Rings", but I also think it's way too early in the game to make any actual predictions. So that's that... for now! *more evil laughing*
I am evil because I didn't even put all that in a cut. Oh well. I'm thirsty, it's cold, it's dark, and I hate winter, and these award shows are the only things I can amuse myself with. Snarky red carpet fashion reviews are the only sport I'm good at! ;-D
