Finished Northanger Abbey. It was good, although I have to admit the abrupt change in tone from the first half to the second half didn't sit very well with me, and that I found the first half much more interesting. But maybe having been half asleep while I was reading the second half of the book had something to do with it; I've been getting apallingly little sleep lately and I'm becoming a bit incoherant.

More distressing than the insomnia however, is this new sick and twisted practice of airing the entire Grand Prix series of figure skating on ESPN instead of ABC. WTF??? The Grand Prix has ALWAYS been on ABC! Do they suddenly think that people with basic cable no longer need to see the Grand Prix series? Do they assume all figure skating fans get ESPN? Because we don't, and it's damned inconvenient fo us to miss practically the whole figure skating season! I thought I was upset when they didn't show the pairs portion of Skate America; little did I know they weren't going to be showing ANY of Skate Canada, Trophee Lalique, Cup of China, Cup of Russia or NHK Trophy! How dare they! They'll put on golf for endless hours, but they can't put on two hours of figure skating each Sunday for a month? What is up with that? Because it's figure skating it's not important or something? If anybody decided they weren't going to air the majority of the football season, people would be up in arms; but because this is figure skating, no one cares? It makes me SO mad I could just spit! ARG!

Anyhoo, thanks to the magazine racks at Barnes & Noble I have information from the skating world via IFS and Blades, and I found out, much to my elation, that Peter Tchernyshev and Shae-Lynn Bourne are now going to be skating together! YAY! Ice dancing will no longer be hollow for me! This is the best possible thing that could happen since Lang & Tchernyshev and Bourne & Kraatz retired from skating (short of someone saying it was all a big joke and they HAVEN'T retired from skating...*sigh*). But anyway, that's something very good to look forward to. :)
