May. 8th, 2007 06:24 pmYay! I actually DID get sewing done! Not on the Russian court dress, but I finally re-did the sleeves of the peach 1900's American Girl doll dress that I'd had to cut the elastic out of because it got all crumbly and gross. I also made a little belt for it, so now it's a cute little blouse-fronted girl's afternoon dress. There's something so satisfying about remaking an old dress. I may still have to re-do one of the sleeves again though, it looks a little lop-sided to me. Someday, when we get film for the camera, I'll post a picture so I can get a second opinion.
( A rant about unsupportive parents, which can be skipped over. )
I've finally read the last of the Lord Peter Wimsey stories. I'm a little sad to be through, they were such fun. Of course, there's still Thrones, Dominations, but it's only a fragment, and I don't really trust anyone else to finish it. That's what's kept me from reading Sanditon all these years too. I just feel that once the original author dies, there's no way anyone else could complete the novel properly. No matter how good it is, it's never going to be the original author's vision, and therefore it's not 'real' in the same way, you know? But I'm a little bereaved, not to say a tiny bit curious, so I'll probably end up giving the Frankenstein monster known as Thrones, Dominations a try. And I know I'll give in and read some version of Sanditon one day too. ;-D
