oscar fashion! (and other stuff)

Oh the Oscars. I think they're so irrelevant in and of themselves, but the fashion! I can't tear myself away from the dresses. That vintage Balmain dress Penelope Cruz wore is so so so gorgeous. I hope today it's in a musuem where it belongs! I know dresses are made to be worn, but they just don't make them like that anymore, and I get so nervous seeing vintage gowns on the red carpet where they could be trod upon! On the other hand, it's much better to see real vintage gowns than the new knock-offs; I nearly spit out my drink when I saw little Miley Cyrus in a dress by some upstart designer that was so flagrantly copying a famous and beautiful vintage 1950's Dior dress called 'Junon'. What is the point of that? Dior did it better 50 years ago, why take a good idea, tweak it around so that it's not as good, and then call it your own? How can you expect that to work? I just don't know. But Kate Winslet finally won her Oscar, so I'm happy. They never give Oscars to people who deserve them, so it's extra special when they do. Kate Winslet is the next Meryl Streep, people. I've been saying it for ages, and it's about time the world caught on. :)

In less happy news, I have a cold, and I cracked one of my front teeth very badly. All on the same day! So now I'm off to the dentist tomorrow to see what hugely expensive dental work I'm going to need. What fun. Not!
