Yikes, it's been a zillion years since my last post. Been busy with boring stuff, and kind of sick the past few days, but trying to get back on top of things now.

Another good TV weekend approaches, for both figure skating and Masterpiece Theatre are in season! Return to Cranford was beyond awesome, Judi Dench is always wonderful, and I can't imagine Emma being even half as good, but I'll give it a go, because it's Jane Austen and my vow to see every JA adaptation ever made still stands!

Figure skating is getting much more press now that it's an Olympic year, and I feel that this can be a double edged sword. I was more than a little suprised to see Domnina and Shabalin pop up in the Yahoo.com news section, and horrified to find a story about their original dance, which is apparently supposed to represent Aboriginal culture, and everyone thinks it's offensive, and though I haven't seen it, the costumes are more heinous than can be described. Why are they doing a program like that? They're such a good team, and just when the spotlight is finally on figure skating, a story like this makes the whole sport look bad. The only thing I can say is I hope they've got a DARN good free dance. (And that Meryl Davis and Charlie White win so we can actually have Olympic ice dance champions to be proud of. Ugh.)

And in more OMGWTF figure skating news, Johnny Weir has a reality show. Seriously, WTF is he doing?? In an Olympic year, no less. He needs to focus less on trying to be Johnny Weir the Outrageous Celebrity and more on being Johnny Weir, Figure Skater with a job to do, and on getting that job done well. He's his own worst competition, poor kid. He's so talented, he could be one of the great ones if he tried, but if he doesn't work out his issues and figure out what he really needs to do, he's never going to get to any higher of a level in his skating career.

Quite possibly the only thing that distresses me more than figure skating at this point is that today is Conan O'Brien's last Tonight Show. I know there are more important things in the world, but he's the only late night talk show host I really loved and watched every day. I'm going to miss that, and hope he gets back on the air soon. I'll follow him to any network, any time slot. Just don't leave us, Conan! *cries*
