Dec. 16th, 2002 07:09 pmWell, the Christmas spirit has totally claimed me. I usually tend to be quite the humbug type at first, but then all the Rankin/Bass movies, and the presents, and the sweets get to me.
The sweets. Ah, the sweets.
Once Halloween is over, my mom officially begins the holiday season. She starts making cakes and cookies and muffins and pies, and good lord, no one can hold out against my mom's baked goods. I think this is all part of her dastardly plan. She wants to make me a Christmas fiend like she is. And I think yesterday's double decker German Chocolate cake swayed me. She's been trying to get me to help her move the living room furniture so that we can put up the tree since Thanksgiving, and I just didn't want to do it. Re-arranging furniture is one of the most excruciating tasks imaginable, since mom and I have very different attitudes toward interior decorating. But yesterday I said I'd do it. I'm thinking I'll probably regret it. But she's making cookies today! And she's offered to make my favorite lemon cake tomorrow! How can I refuse her in the face of this????!!!!!
Switching gears, I totally sympathize with Kelly about clothes and fashion. I am a total fashion freak. I love clothes. I love them in every way. I love wearing clothes, and I have a freakish obsession with historical fashion. Ever since I was really little this has been the case. Besides the usual "I wanna be an actress and a singer" dreams lots of little girls have, I had an "I wanna be a fashion designer/costume historian" dream. I would really love to design costumes for the theater. I just love clothes. But of course, not being tremendously wealthy, and not having a...JOB *shudder* I can't exactly afford to dress the way I'd like to. I am always lamenting this, and my mom is totally unphased, because, as I mentioned before, I've been doing so since I was four.
I don't usually care so much about clothes in winter though, because whatever I wear is always buried underneath coats and hats and scarves. But in summer it gets bad. I started wearing dresses and sandals last summer, instead of shorts and t-shirts, and that's helped me a lot. I like to be dressy. But at any rate, this really has nothing to do with anything. MUST STOP BABBLING.
But I have to say I'm so glad that Kelly has found the joys of "Monarch of the Glen"! I knew it was only a matter of time. ;-D
And I'm also really mad that they re-did Robbie the Reindeer with American actors! It loses half it's charm! And Britney Spears, no less! For heaven's sake, why?
