Christmas was actually nice this year. I finally achieved my ambition of having a Christmas where instead of running around putting up Christmas decorations and worrying over making a huge Christmas dinner, we just forgot about putting up decorations and ate pizza. ;-D

It snowed beautifully on Christmas, so that everything looked like a Christmas card. Christmas and Christmas Eve are really the only time I have any tolerance for snow.

I got to watch all my favorite Christmas movies (and two different productions of my favorite Christmas story/ballet, The Nutcracker!), and by some miracle Mum didn't force me to watch any bad ones, so all in all I'm quite pleased with Christmas this year. (Despite the fact that I didn't get to make the Christmas butter cookies!)

Though I didn't get anything terribly good for Christmas this year in the way of presents, I'm consolled by the heap of new books I checked out from the library just before Christmas to sustain me in case it snowed really seriously and we never got out of the house again. Out of all the books I checked out, though, The Complete Sherlock Holmes has proved the most interesting. I'm half-way though A Study in Scarlet, and it's cracking good reading. :-D

(Alas, ever since I watched The Sound of Music on Christmas day, I've been having the songs running through my head. And now that I watched Mary Poppins yesterday, all the songs from THAT have been added to the mix. I love Julie Andrews, but I think there is a limit somewhere of how much one can take before they start to go slightly mad.)
