newmoonstarToday's entry will be a short little one just to let people know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year. I know 2002 wasn't that great for some of you, so I hope 2003 will be a clean slate, with plenty of 'scope for imagination'. ;-D
Yes, I've been reading more Anne books. Though I must say that after the third one I find them all boring and slightly depressing. It's just depressing to think that somebody like Anne could grow up to be a boring, ordinary housewife, with nothing to do but take care of her husband and children. And she loves it. Which makes it even worse. ARG. I completely take back anything I ever said about liking Gilbert over Teddy. I hate Gilbert in the books, and I love Teddy. Of course, movie Gilbert is still a completely different story...;-D
But seriously, Anne gets on my nerves sometimes. In all of the books, there are points when I just want to rip up the page. She's so cheerful about everything, and her charming cheerfulness never fails to endear her to even the most bitter old widows, or the snobbiest students, or anybody. ARG. REAL LIFE IS NOT LIKE THAT! I'm going to read all the Anne books because Maud Montgomery wrote them, but literally that's the only reason. The Emily books are immeasurably better. They're more real, and they're just better, and Emily still has a sense of wonder and a love for beauty and an imagination witout being, well, full of crap. Yes, I called Anne of Green Gables full of crap. So there.
Eh, so much for a short entry. But now that I've vented I feel better. :)
