Jan. 21st, 2003 07:14 pmWell, I had a few days of glorious health, and then I got the flu. First I get a cold, then I get the flu. How does this happen? I haven't come into conatact with anyone who's been sick. I don't go to public school, I don't have a job, and I never go out with friends. I rarely ever get out of the house, I'm practically living in a fricking bubble, and yet I still catch a cold and the flu in the same week. ARG.
But I'm over it now and will refrain from spouting anymore bitterness. Besides, I got to sit on the couch watching skating the whole time. :-D
I watched all of Nationals. Very happy with it on the whole. I knew Michelle Kwan would win if she skated clean. And of course she did, and she really did deserve it. I would actually have been disappointed if Sarah Hughes had won instead. Yes, you heard that from me, devoted Sarah supporter, and despiser of all things Kwan. But, actually, ever since the Olympics, I've actually felt sympathy for her and been unable to hate her. Her skating just seems different now, it seems more genuine, like it used to be when she was younger, and was my favorite skater. So, yes, I can honestly now say that I don't hate Michelle Kwan. The me of a years ago would call me a traitor for this. My mom does. But skating speaks for itself.
The pairs event was utterly uninteresting. Without Ina and Zimmerman the US pairs field is in sad shape. But all of pairs is in my opinion, without Elena and Anton. Or as I like to call them, gifts from the skating gods. I know, no one wants to hear me proclaim my love and adoration for them for the millionth time, but I HAVE to. I can't help it. They're the best pair ever. *sigh*
Ice Dance was good, Peter and Naomi won their 5th national title. (Yay!) I adore them.
Very happy for Michael Weiss with his third national title, since he's been having a rough time of it lately. But so sad for Matt Savoie. I love his new Ragtime program, and it's so good for him, but what a disater here. Was he fifth, I think? Oh, WHY? I just want to cry.
But I won't do any more skating related rambling, because no one probably cares. I have to do it for me though. It's a compulsion. ;-D
Must go mark Europeans on the calendar. February 1st!
