Doctor Who and secret codes

Mum was watching a re-run of the last episode of the second season of Doctor Who today. I knew I wouldn't be able to take watching it again, so I went and puttered about in my room till it was over, but I came in five minutes too early and caught the very end. Mistake. Enter me running into the kitchen so that no one sees me sobbing over a sci-fi show. I just can't take the pain! Why must they take Rose from us after only two seasons? She was the best thing about the whole show. In the dalek episode, I was literally shreiking in fright, "Omigod don't let the daleks get Rose!", completely forgetting all established rules of TV shows, which clearly dictate that they won't kill off a lead character mid-season. But I was so into it I totally forgot, which is SO great. How often do you come across a show that makes you forget about reality and just have fun for a while? I hate that DW seems to have a cast change every freaking season. Just when you get attached to one character or actor, they switch, which changes the whole show. Season One and Season Two are like two entirely different shows because they have two entirely different vibes. Not to mention I think the writing was a bit stronger in the first season, but then I actually do prefer Eccelston. I blame Russel T. Davies for telling Tennant to play it exactly like he did in Casanova. SUCH a mistake! Two WAY different characters, two WAY different backgrounds, should be approached entirely differently. The schtick he developed for Casanova was brilliant, and he was fabulous there, but it wasn't the Doctor. Which is why I think he seemed so shallow in DW even though he was tremendously charming and even poignant in Casanova. He's clearly capable of making the two sides work together, which is why Eccleston was so good, but he just hasn't yet approached the Doctor as person rather than as a type. So even though I miss Rose, and will probably always compare every new companion to her and find them lacking because they're not Rose, I'm still going to give the show a chance, because I would like to see if David Tennant can finally pull it together. And after all, the first season will always be on DVD. ;-D
In non-lamenting news, I've started reading The Nine Tailors. The copy I have is from the library, and someone, at some point, has underlined various random words throughout the whole book. Now, my whimsical side just DESPERATELY wants to believe it's a secret code. You can pretty safely bet that my next few days will be spent writing them down and re-arranging them to see what I can come up with!
