why doctors are evil, plus random stuff
May. 14th, 2009 06:15 pmI hate doctors. You know why? Because I've had excessive watering in my right eye on and off for the past six months, and only this Monday did I finally find a doctor who could actually figure out that it was a blocked tear duct. And of course he was a sadisitic creep. He kept pushing on it and saying "look at the pus come out!" like a kid in a candy store, while I'm thinking "stop getting pus in my eye!" And then he's like "the only treatment is to have it irrigated, which is painful, but we don't use anasthetic!" and if it doesn't work "then you need an operation, and we'll see what our plastic surgeon can do for you!" And he was practically rubbing his hands together with perverse glee in anticipation. But when I went in today to have it irrigated, he was on vacation, so I saw another doctor who told me that typically they give you antibiotics for it, and THEN try irrigation only if that doesn't work. So now I'm on the antibiotics, but I could have been half way through them already if the first doctor had just given them to me in the first place! UGH! DOCTORS! My opinion of the medical profession sinks lower every time I see one!
Apparently there's a Renaisance Faire coming up this weekend in my area and I didn't even notice! I've been so pre-occupied with Costume Con that I didn't even look! I might go, since it's early enough in the year so that it won't be too hot to dress up. I've only got my old red Titian dress to wear; the medieval dress got put aside for a while, and now with Costume Con I have more important dresses to work on. But it might be fun anyway, if the weather continues as lovely as it has been. It's only in my magpie mind that you have to have a shiny new dress for every event. ;D
For some reason, I kind of think I might go see Star Trek. I never really cared much for the original series, The Next Generation was the one I grew up loving, so really if they changed it I actually wouldn't mind, and it looks like it might be sorta fun. (And just to rile up my mum, who loves the old series and thinks the movie'll be terrible!)

Date: 2009-05-16 09:35 pm (UTC)Yeah, TNG was WAY better. Captain Picard was into archaeology and Shakespeare and diplomacy! He was my role model as a child! He's way more awesome than Captain Kirk with his womanizing and beating up aliens with paper rocks! The old Star Trek was SO campy. My mom keeps decrying the new movie because she thinks it's going to be all Captain Kirk love scenes and space battles, but how would that be different from the TV series then? They couldn't make it any sillier than it was!
