Ugh, my throat is finally better, but now I'm getting a cold. I so can't wait for winter to be over! :P

But at least being sick has made me sit down & write some stuff. I was kind of stuck with the Vicki & Troilus fic I started, so working from one of the new prompts I just claimed, I came up with something a little more lighthearted & whimsical that I'm quite pleased with. I'm going to kill two birds with one stone & use it for

dw_guestfest, & I think this is definitely the fastest I've ever filled any prompt ever! Those ficathon deadlines keep me from sitting there re-writing it over & over again for weeks on end, which I would otherwise do!

Sewing is going rather badly- I think I'll take a break from that till I feel a little better.

And when the heck does the new season of Mr. Selfridge start already?! I tried to avoid spoilers, but I heard them anyway, and now the suspense is even worse! Hurry up, PBS!

And, as you know, I loved your fic - it was gorgeous & reminded me as well of all the things I love about Vicki. :-)

Yeah, I don't even get out of the house that often, & I'm scrupulous with the hand sanitizers when I do, but the viruses just seem to sneak up on you no matter what you do this time of year! So I'm just taking my echinacea and zinc supplements & suffering through it on the couch with a box of kleenex & some DVDs.

And aw shucks, I'm so glad people have been liking the fic! I really didn't know if many people would even be interested, since there's not even a whole lot of Vicki fic, and Troilus is from a completely missing serial, but it's getting reviews, and I'm so pleased there are Vicki fans out there, and that I could do her justice! Plus, it's a bit of a relief to get reviews again after 'When In Rome' didn't even get one new one after you recced it on Calufrax, since Calufrax recs always get at least one or two. (But a friend of mine finally left one today, & then all the reviews for Vicki & Troilus came in & I'm like 'okay, I was just being an idiot to be worried about no one liking it!')

But I'm so glad you started the ficathon- I've noticed someone signed up for Cameca, and two people chose Sam Briggs, and I think the ones for Jabe and The Mara could prove very interesting, and I can't wait to read everyone else's obscure stuff! It's always great to have good stuff for any character, but it's kind of like having a big white birthday cake for the popular characters, and then you find something for a minor character, and it's like the rare, exotic caramel-infused gourmet cupcake - both delicious, but it's exciting to add a new flavor too. :)

calufrax is weird like that - most of the time, most of the fics will get some extra reviews, but every so often, as a reccer, you'll suddenly get an almost silent week. I suppose it must just be timing or something, because it's happened to me a couple of times, and it certainly wasn't because I recced rubbish fics those weeks!! But people do use Calufrax to find good fics later and it usually pays off at some point. Gone are the days where a rec could get you 20 extra reviews, though...

I'm glad your Vicki/Troilus fic is getting some love - it deserves it! :-)

And I'm so glad you're enjoying the ficathon so far. I've set up a few comms and things, but this is my first ficathon & it's good to see it off to an encouraging start. Anyway, I should be off writing/editing my own highly obscure fic, really. :lol:
