backstage selfies

It's the final weekend of the play I'm doing! Though I've been sick for the past week and will be glad for the rest when it's over, I'll miss the show itself for sure. In addition to stage managing, I also play a bit part in three scenes, so I have fun dressing up as the 1930s version of myself: I play the wardrobe lady! A few backstage selfies:

Act one, in my cute little vintage apron, aww.
and act two, without apron- my big costume change lol:

plus some extra pics of my trying on a gorgeous vintage hat that got left in the dressing room after one of the other actresses didn't end up using in the show:

And let me tell you it takes all my willpower not to try on all the gorgeous vintage costumes! The coats the other girls wear in the final scene have real fur collars, and we think one of them is mink. *swoon* (And before anyone says anything about animal cruelty, it's vintage, so the minks died long ago! I don't support the continuance of the fur industry now that we have synthetic material to keep us warm, but that's no reason not to appreciate the historical stuff that's still around.)
And now I have to get some sleep because we have another show tomorrow...zzzzzz....

Date: 2017-05-08 03:48 am (UTC)(I think the ruffles are probably the kind that are cut in a circular spiral based on the way they flute out- the dress and apron both came from the theater company's costume collection, so I'm not sure about construction details. Their collection is AMAZING. I just about fainted at the sight of their enormous collection of vintage pieces! They have several rooms filled with racks of period clothes and shoes and hats- they have so many mid-century ladies hats that they have to hang half of them from the ceiling!)
