So, I went to the Renaissance faire over the weekend, and had a lovely time. I decided I wanted to go for a princess instead of a peasant look though, so I took the elastic off the cuffs of the chemise and let them hang down full, and put a circlet of pearls in my hair and a long pearl necklace on and voila! I went from Ever After work dress to Juliet princess dress without any fuss! (I feel like I should be the host of one of those makeover shows now...) But anyway I hope the pictures turn out because this is by far the best costume I've had.
Although I'll probably look terrible in all the pictures, because I have a nasty sunburn from my weekend of Renaissance revelry. Oy. Luckily not as bad as last year though. I don't look like a lobster this time. But I don't think we were there as long this year because it was too hot. My dress was very lightweight, but still I roasted more than the corn they sold there. (Which, by the by, is fabulous! Corn definitely tastes the best roasted!)
It'll probably be too hot to make a big huge Elizabethan dress next year like I wanted to, but this year they had a giant chess set in the middle of the garden, and I now have a sneaking desire to go back next year in a black and white Elizabethan queen's dress and take a picture in the middle of it. Either that or dress up in Harry Potter glasses and a Gryffindor scarf and pretend I'm playing a life-sized game of wizard's chess. Teehee! ;-D
(I finally saw Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban last Tuesday, and I've had HP on the brain ever since. Though I'm not complaining, since there are few things more fun to be preoccupied with! Perhaps some Percy ficcage might even be in order...;-D)
