Writing is unfortunately not taking place. Sewing has taken a front seat of late, especially as now I have my first 'commission', if you can call it that. Dave a.k.a. 'The Barbie Guy', who I sold most of my old dolls and accesories to, wants me to make a poodle-skirt ensemble for him. (For his dolls, not for himself, mind you!) And since he stored some stuff for us while we were moving, I'm sort of indebted, and I probably won't get paid for it since it'll be more of a thank you gift. And poodle skirts aren't exactly my idea of artistically stimulating work, but what the heck! It's a start! All the great couturiers had to start somewhere! *teehee* (I feel just like Beatrice and Evie in The House of Eliott!)
Oh how empty my Fridays will be now that the first season of Doctor Who is over! I hope the Sci-Fi channel has acquired the next season, because I NEED it. Although I hope this won't become the prevailing rate of Doctor-turnover for the run of the series; I couldn't take getting a new Doctor EVERY season! Just when you get used to one, and even come to actually like them, they get a new one! In the old days, they'd at least keep their Doctors for a couple of years! Even though I've finally come to like Christopher Eccleston and will even miss him, I'm not too distraught that he's gone since they've got David Tennant now. Whenever I think of him I always think of him going "Look here! Damn it!" in Bright Young Things. That scene made me laugh harder than anything else in the movie; the way he said it was so funny. That line should go on his tombstone, it's just so great. And of course I loved him in He Knew He Was Right, even my staunchly-Masterpiece-Theatre-hating Mum laughed at the bits with Mr. Gibson and the French sisters, which is the ultimate accolade from her. I'm currently trying to calm her down and assure her that David Tennant is a fabulous actor and won't suck, but she's a Tom Baker fan, with an inborn suspicion of anyone else who would take on the role. It's so weird to actually share a fandom with my mother!
