I've started reading Northanger Abbey. I must say it's a bit of a different experience reading a Jane Austen book which hasn't had any good movie versions for me to see first, so that I could get familiar with the story. The only time I've ever seen it dramatized was actually on an episode of Wishbone, which was actually very good, and is the only way I'd ever have found out what it was even about. So I guess it'll be an adventure to read; I'm about eight chapters in, and it seems very lively so far, so I've got good hopes for it. We'll see how it turns out. Goodness knows I have free time to spare without being able to write anything at the moment. *sigh*

Northanger Abbey is a BRILLIANT book. My 2cd favourite after P&P. Shame there's no decent film adaptation.

I'm really surprised there hasn't been a good film adaptation; they've done good ones for all the rest of Jane Austen's books. The Northanger Abbey episode of Wishbone was really good though; I think it would be greatly amusing to any Jane Austen fan to see the two Jane Austen episodes; they did both Northanger Abbey and Pride and Prejudice. I don't suppose you've ever had the show in England, but it's a cute kid's show where they have a Jack Russell terrier dog play the main part in an adaptation of a different classic novel every episode. Quite frankly, I think Wishbone was the best Mr. Darcy I've ever seen! ;-D If you ever come across the show somehow, it's definitely worth a look! :)
