Eeps! I was in such a rush when I posted my last entry, that I didn't even notice that somehow, when I was in the course of editing it, instead of deleting the sentences I wanted it to delete, it deleted the last two paragraphs! Arg! So, it looked like I was criticizing Pride and Prejudice much more harshly than I had intended to. It's not that I dislike it, I was just kind of venting my surprise at finding out that it wasn't as sweet and cute as I had always assumed it was, and that the characters weren't all good. It's supposed to be a satire, and you're not supposed to take it as seriously as I did, because then, yeah, you'd end up pretty shocked by it, like I was! Looking at it now, I think it's just a testament to Jane Austen's utter brilliance and how much she totally rocks that she can still shock a reader 200 years after the novel was written! ;-D
Okay, so right now I've started on Mansfield Park, which is supposedly the actual darkest work of hers, but I reserve judgement until I've read it all. I really can't wait to weigh in on Fanny Price, since everybody either really likes her or really hates her; though I'm almost resolved to force myself to like her, since the general opinion seems to be against her. I can never resist rooting for the underdog.
I'm also reading (and much more quickly) The Hound of the Baskervilles at the moment, and I'm absoultely adoring it. It's SO creepy and Sherlock Holmes-y, that it's just delicious fun. I'm almost having too much fun with it to be spooked by it!
I should, really, be doing some writing instead of all this reading, especially since not only am I working on the fantasy novel, but I've also started a short story version of "Beauty and the Beast", but who can concentrate on writing when Sherlock Holmes and Jane Austen beckon you? ;-D

Okay i saw a PBS remake of the Hound of the Baskervilles-it was pretty cool but not very accurate plot-wise. Oh man, the first time i actually read the story (watching it on Wishbone doesn't count), i was so scared that i wouldnt' sleep in my room by myself, but dragged in a cot into my mom's room and slept there for the night.
