My first entry of the new year! I have absolutely nothing important to say however, as for the past week or so I've been on an absolute binge of doing nothing but reading Sherlock Holmes and eating gingerbread cookies. :)
I fear my Jane Austen kick has finally run out of steam for the moment, as I really haven't been able to read more of Mansfield Park without becoming incredibly drowsy. I suppose it's just as well; she only wrote six complete novels, and at least now I can still look forward to someday having the pleasure once again of reading a Jane Austen novel for the first time.
Believe it or not, I actually sat down and did a little writing on my useless fantasy novel last night, but unfortunately I find myself wanting to write something set in the Victorian era instead, due the influence of all this Sherlock Holmes. The worst part is I already have a ton of great story ideas set in the Victorian era sitting around, but I already started the dratted fantasy novel, and don't exactly want to go back and forth between millions of different projects. I wish I didn't get so easily caught up with the aura of whatever book I'm currently reading; I didn't get ANY writing done while I was reading all the Jane Austen stuff because my mind was running away planning all sorts of Regency romps! But so be it; I need to read good books, and if it means taking away from my own productivity, then too bad. I need fun! And I'm convinced that there is no greater joy upon the earth than sitting down to a few hours of fresh Sherlock Holmes! ;-D
