Oh. Well. Very interesting thing just happened. Very upsetting, really. I got an email from Abby. Abby is the last remaining friend that I still talk to of the 'old crowd' from school. Best friends. Totally on the same wavelength in just about everything. Same interests. Share stories. Like sisters.

Haven't heard from her at all lately. Haven't had a letter or email from her since August. Hasn't replied to any of my emails.
Except today. There in my inbox, a tiny little note saying something to the effect of: "Sorry I haven't been in touch. Lots going on. Moving to Portland, Oregon at the end of the school year. More later."

WHAT?????? OREGON?????

HOW? WHY? Oregon is half way across the country! She lives near Chicago now, so that's still close enough to where I live that she can come to visit once a year. But OREGON? Good lord, I'll never see her again! And she is the ONLY honest to goodness RL friend I have left. HOW can this happen? I'm so upset. And forlorn. What am I going to do?

I don't mean to bring you guys down with such a dismal entry, but I'm sure some of you know what it's like to have to say goodbye to a friend?

This is just abominable. It hurts worse than going to the dentist did. But I still absolutely mean what I said about how great you guys all are and how much you mean to me.

I'm really sorry about being so needy, when I know you guys all have lives and problems enough of your own. But in order to bring an element of cheer to this useless depression-laden entry, I'm going to tell everybody that they must at some point in their lives see "Wives and Daughters". It's far better than your average Masterpiece Theater period drama based on a nineteenth century English novel (which of course, as I mentioned before, I'm addicted to.) "Wives and Daughters" is really genuinely good, and one of my favorite movies/miniseries.
Definitely watch it.

*hugs*

I definitely know what it's like to have a good friend move away. Not very fun. And Oregon is SO far off! I've been through Portland on our roadtrip last summer, actually. A driver's nightmare. Double-decker interstates. :( That's definitely a bummer she's going so far away.
