I got to browsing at Barnes & Noble the other day, and lo and behold, in the back of their paperback Complete Sherlock Holmes, I found both "The Field Bazaar" and "How Watson Leared the Trick", which I hadn't been able to find anywhere before, AND a very charming little parody by J.M. Barrie. Needless to say, I immediately sat myself on the first unoccupied chair I could find, and devoured them then and there. Despite the presence of fellow browsers repeatedly coming annoyingly close to where I was sitting (of course, the only unoccupied chair WOULD be right next to a bestsellers display), I had no qualms laughing out loud several times, as the true Holmes fan's joy in reading of the Master knows no shame. And such joy it was; to a girl who's read the entire Canon and knows the pain of having also read very bad pastiche, anything new from Doyle, be it even a brief parody, is nectar of the gods. And they were actually funny, to boot! Though Barrie's was undoubtedly the most chortle-inducing. ;-D
Joyous tidings again abound, for I have suceeded in lobbying NOT to move to Freaking Hell-Hole, Colorado! We're still going to move next year, and most likely and most preferably out of state, but at least not to the Freaking Hell-Hole! We're pretty much considering any moderately sized city in the US that's not too expensive or too extreme in climate. So, the adventure begins... does anybody have any recommendations, by any chance? We're totally open to any suggestions. If you have any, leave me a comment, I'd be grateful!
