Our Christmas tree is finally up, Christmas is only days away, and I still haven't found the Christmas cards! Curses! I'll have to make some or something! They really should officially change the motto of Christmas from 'the season of giving' to 'the season of stressing out'. It would be far more accurate.
I'm so in love with The Way We Live Now. I finally got my DVD player, and it was always my #1 goal for DVDs to watch once I got it. I was not disappointed. I LOVE it. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE it. Aside from being gorgeously shot, it was actually a GOOD FILM. It was intelligent and interesting and ACTUALLY GOOD. I've never lied about being a total costume whore; I'll watch a period movie, even a bad one, if it has pretty costumes. But it's so much better to once in a while see a costume epic that's actually a good movie on it's own terms. The writing's brilliant, the acting's brilliant, everything works, and it would still work even if it weren't period, but having such a contemporary story set in the Victorian era just makes it that much more vivid. My faith in cinema is restored.
