happy birthday to me!

Today is my birthday! Yay! Hopefully my favorite bakery will be open so I can get some baklava and turkish delight, which I would infinitely prefer to a cake! But they don't have regular hours, so it's catch as catch can; we'll see!
I love presents. Mum really outdid herself with some truly gorgeous brocades and silks, so I'm never going to have to worry about finding the perfect fabric for my next Renaissance costume! And the best part is, the gold brocade matches the raspberry satin I'm going to use for the underdress of an Italian Renaissance gown, so now I can have two different overdresses for it! Hurrah for mix and match costuming!
However, I just saw one of the brocades I got used for a waistcoat in Casanova on Masterpiece Theatre a week or two ago, and it was just SO cute, and now my mind is straying to 18th century costumes whenever I look at it. I'm a girl, I DO NOT need 18th century waistcoat. (Unless I wanted to make a pirate costume... shut up, brain!!!)
So, general jollity abounds. I don't have any big plans, I think I'll just spend the evening fawning over my new fabric and finishing up reading Have His Carcase. Which, in my opinion, is about the best kind of evening one can have. :)

Date: 2006-10-27 10:42 pm (UTC)-- yes, a waistcoat would be awesome, and I keep thinking to myself how great a pirate costume would be with Halloween coming up, and you can get into a lot of clubs around here for free with a costume on Halloween... wicked plans are forming in my mind! I love that you inspire me to wicked plans. ♥ That's what friendship is truly about.
