Mar. 6th, 2007 05:29 pmI haven't started on a new doll dress yet, even though I have the fabrics all picked out for the 1890's dress. It's just that I've been playing around with my patterns, and there's one that I could adapt for a late 1870's dress or an early 1880's dress and I've been spending all my time on that, trying to figure out what I could use for underskirts and bustles and whatnot. It always comes back to Victorian bustle dresses!
But also I just watched Shakespeare in Love and Romeo and Juliet last night, and it got me thinking about what Renaissance costumes I want to make for the faires this year. I'd have gotten started on them already, except that I cannot for the life of me find the box of old sheets that I was going to use to do my initial draping and cutting with. I've decided it's just so much easier to do that than to try to adapt commercial patterns, which is fine for doll clothes, but just ridiculous for a human being. When I buildt the Regency dress from scratch on the dress form it turned out perfect, so that's what I'm doing from now on.
But I'm too tired to worry about that now. I think I'll go back to bed instead.
