Jul. 9th, 2007 08:00 pmUgh. I hate hot weather. Especially because I don't have an air conditioner in my bedroom. But my room is so Victorian and gorgeous I wouldn't move if you paid me. I love that I love my house. It's the first time in my life I ever have, and every day I find myself marvelling at just how awesome it feels. Aren't the simplest things in life really the best?
Love for simple things aside though, I just discovered the Barbie Collectibles website. Avarice has set in. I know, I told myself 'you can make your own doll clothes now, you don't need to buy new dolls ever again'. But if you saw their Marie Antoinette and Empress Josephine Barbies, you would understand. And I signed up to get the catalogs again. And I literally started making up a wish list the other day. I'm twenty years old, I HAVE to stop this. Be mature. Focus on useful things. But OMG THE PRETTINESS!!!!
I'm thinking I'm going to make myself a gamurra out of my lovely pink silk, and then use that old white brocade-y stuff I had no idea what to do with for a giorna, so that it would look like that adorable pink and white ensemble the blonde lady has on in that one Ghirlandaio painting. I've always loved the delicacy of the pink and white color scheme, and it's very unusual in Renaissance costumes. I think it's a great idea, but will I ever do it? I haven't made anything for myself since we moved here because I just don't have a proper workspace. And I'm just too frightened of trying to work in a disorganized jumble to even attempt it. I really have to do something about it, but the minute I bring up the subject to my mum, she freaks out on me and says she doesn't want to deal with it. But I can't just throw her stuff out of my hallway and set up there because she'd have a fit. So the dilemma remains, as does all my lovely un-used fabric. *cries*
It would be SUCH an awesome Ghirlandaio outfit.

Date: 2007-07-10 02:35 am (UTC)One day you've got to take pictures of the clothes you create! That's an order! I wish I lived close by, I'd commission you to make things for me. Once I had the money, of course. ;)

Date: 2007-07-13 01:45 am (UTC)And I really really will take pictures someday. Really. And if you lived nearby I would totally make you stuff at half the normal rate. (Actually, considering I'm a total pushover, I would probably do it for free!)

Date: 2007-07-13 01:49 am (UTC)And I love antique dolls and dollhouses too, but once again, they're expensive, but you can always get new Victorian style dollhouses. I have one and it's so much fun to set up all the furniture and decorate it like it's a real house. :)
