Been reading Jane Eyre constantly. I'm actually really into it! I never expected I'd say it, but it's actually a lot of fun, and thus far, I like it. Yes, you heard me right, I like Jane Eyre. Is that a flying pig I see? ;-D

Bought a new straw hat that looks exactly like a Regency bonnet I saw in a fashion plate. Hurray! And it was very inexpensive. So now I have something to wear with the tan Regency dress that will hopefully be my next project once I finish ye olde medieval dress. Nothing like a new bonnet to cheer a girl up!

Is this is your first encounter with the Brontë sisters? I first read Jane Eyre when I was about 12; I've re-read it several times over the years, and currently own two copies (a new edition illustrated by Dame Darcy, and a lovely old hardcover). When I was growing up this novel was just as dear to me as the Anne series and The Secret Garden.

Well, it's the first time I've ever read one of their books cover to cover. I tried to read Jane Eyre when I was younger, but I found it dreary, and since none of the film adaptations I'd seen promised anything much better to come, I just gave up before I got very far into it. I admit that I'm one of those readers that use the film adaptations to screen the classics before deciding which ones to read, on the theory that if I can't even stand to watch it, I sure as heck won't be able to stand reading it, which in my case at least, has served me pretty well! So thankfully they finally had a good film version of Jane Eyre, that forced me to go back and re-examine it! ;-D
