Oh how I love PBS. I always love PBS, but just at the moment I love them because they're re-running The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in beautifully restored hi-def. *drool* I've seen every episode a dozen times, but when the picture is that good it's like seeing it brand new, and I can't keep myself away!
Still listening to Jane Eyre: the Musical. I just fall more and more in love with it the more I hear it. :)
Since I really haven't been inspired to work on my stupid useless medieval dress for a very long time, I've decided to be very wicked and bad, and I've set it aside to make a Regency doll dress. Actually, I guess it's technically more a French Empire doll dress, since it's pink with a little red fleur-de-lis print, which would hardly have gone over well in England during the Napoleonic wars! I feel slightly guilty, seeing as I have a Ren Faire to go to in about two weeks, not mention Bristol this summer, and I should be making myself an Elizabethan gown, but if it came down to it I can always wear my Titian dress to both of those if I had to, it would be a lot cooler in the summer heat anyway. But I just had to make something 19th century, and hopefully it won't take long since it's so tiny. (Rationalize, self, rationalize!)
But how much sewing am I going to get done, anyway, while I'm still in the middle of reading Jane Eyre? I'm well and truly absorbed in it; if the kitchen ceiling hadn't started leaking the night before last, neccesitating the immeadiate clear out of the room, (ah, the joys of apartment living! And old, badly remodeled Victorian apartment living, at that!) I probably wouldn't have done anything but read the whole day.
And right now, and for the past few days, I've had "Touch My Body" by Mariah Carey stuck in my head. I really do love Mariah, ever since I was an 11 year old singing along to "Fantasy" with all the other girls at sleepovers, but it's very distracting to have those lyrics floating around your brain when you're trying to concentrate on something serious like Jane Eyre. Oy. Oh, Mariah, why must your bubblegum pop be so darn catchy?

Date: 2008-05-05 04:53 pm (UTC)last night on PBS Masterpiece Theatre they aired part 1 Cranford, an adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel. I liked it well enough. But I would much rather see Sherlock Holmes!

Date: 2008-05-05 10:40 pm (UTC)Cranford! I missed the first episode of Cranford yesterday! I can't believe it! I've been SO looking forward to it! I hope they re-run it tonight so I can see it before the second part, I've really enjoyed all the other Elizabeth Gaskell adaptations the BBC has done, plus Judi Dench is my hero!
And Jane Eyre: The Musical is a few years old, it was on Broadway back in 2001 I think. But the cast recording is awesomely awesome in the extreme, definitely worth searching out!
