Well, I did manage to cram a few more historical excursions into this summer after all! Took advantage of Smithsonian's National Museum Day free admission, and went to see an Octogon House. It's the largest one still standing in the state, and very pretty it was. The tour guide was very good, and the top floor had a room full of antique dolls and clothes, which was an unexpected treat. Then went on to Milwaukee to see the exhibition of portrait miniatures at the art museum, which was super cool. I'd never seen any in person before, so it was really cool to see the translucent, glowing quality that watercolor on ivory has. And the ones that had hairwork on the other side were even more awesome, it's so thrilling to see an actual tangible part of the person whose face is staring out at you through the centuries in those little portraits. The daguerrotypes were cool too; they seem so magical the way the picture disappears and reappears depending on how you look at it.

So that was all lots of fun. I think I'm done with travelling for this year, but the new season of Lark Rise to Candleford starts this weekend, so I'll be quite happy to stay home on weekends again!

Also submitted some designs to Costume Con's Future Fashion Folio. It's only my first time, so I doubt they'll get in, but it's good to try, and we'll see what happens. :)
