Abby came over this weekend. A good time was had by all. We did art projects and watched Vanity Fair and Girl With A Pearl Earring and lots of figure skating. And we ate lots of candy. Isn't it great how you can not see a friend for years, but then pick up right where you left off as if no time had passed at all? :)
Vanity Fair was a bit nonsensical, so now I'm tempted to go read the book to figure it out, which is not what I need, since I'm already reading The Mill on the Floss in an attempt to decipher it's own nonsensical film adaptation. Vanity Fair looked absolutely beautiful though. The bright colors were delicious, and every scene was filled with gorgeously stunning images. The same could be said of Pearl Earring. I have issues with the book, but the film looked great, and they changed a lot of things in the movie. The ending was a bit abrupt, and you wouldn't have understood it's significance if you hadn't read the book first, but all in all it worked.
Last night I watched four consecutive episodes of the Granada Sherlock Holmes series. I love cable.
